Borrowed Heaven
what a follow up to In Blue. Not that In Blue is a bad album - I love In Blue, I think its diversity manages to make this pop album stand out because it's a collection of powerful pop tunes and sweet melodies. But this time with Borrowed Heaven, the old Corrs are back - it's powerful pop tunes and sweet melodies and a deeper glimpse of personality and sentiments expressed by more sophisticated lyrics and the best of all, the Celtic sound is back!
Summer Sunshine
The best summer song for the summer of 04. Andrea says its a bitter sweet love song, well although the lyrics may not be sufficient to reveal the real story behind the song, it's still a powerful uplifting song and since its debut in March I'm still so in love with the song. Absolutely the best choice for first single from BH.
Angel
Just the intro of the song is enough to tell you the song's gonna be good.
"Forever angel, I hope they'll love you like we do.
Forever angel, I'll be proud to be like you"
Isn't that moving? As the 2nd single from the album, this is definitely one of the best Corrs song as well. Like an optimistic and uplifting prayer for their mother who passed away, they share their sentiments with the world.
Somehow I feel this is more than a song to me. It carries a message.
Hideaway
Another fabulous intro to the song. Sharon's creating magic again by a melancholy verse followed by an uplifting chorus to it. The guitars in the bridge is a real highlight.
Long Night
Probably the best track in the album, and the only ballad in the album, the Shania-like opening isn't that appealing, but the chorus tells it all. The violin and tin whistle bridge makes it a masterpiece.
Goodbye
A wonderful piano accompanied verse - reminds me of a Coldplay song. Another song for their late mother - "Goodbye" obviously isn't an easy word to say. A very Corr-sy chorus, also filled with sentiments.
Time Enough for Tears
The only track in Borrowed Heaven not written by the Corrs themselves, this sounds more like a lullaby. Yet the melody is beautifully written, and Andrea's realy singing her heart out. Piano done in a different style, it's almost a Norah Jones thing here.
Humdrum (Humdrum - Adj: lacking excitement, interest or new and different events; ordinary)
Reminding me of Give it All Up, only this is 100X times better. A chorus that reminds me of Stretch Princess/Sixpence, an amusing complaint to a humdrum life. A very pop thing here but also a very Irish thing here. The way I love it!
Even If
Another favorite in the album. Another uplifting number here, love the lines in the chorus. "Even if the sun came tumbling down, you light the ground, I walk on."
It's amazing how life can change everything.
Need some more light here. Yet I'm not pitiful. Because my ground is lit.
Borrowed Heaven
An amazing vibe of African + Celtic. Lady Black Mambazo's voice at the end is amazing.

it's almost like a prayer of thanks, for all the things we have. for borrowed Heaven we're breathing in.
Confidence for Quiet
A shout, it's no doubt a tune written/inspired by the the FNF era. Yet it's still nicely done, and I love the way it reminds me of the FNF days.
Baby Be Brave
A track that needs time to grow... Still figuring out the lyrics, but it's nice to have something that sounds different in the album.
Silver Strand
The instrumental track, also the last track. A nice instrumental to end the journey, emotions brought forth that can't be put in words.

Got slightly burnt under the sun. 4 hours of summer sunshine (the real thing).
Next time I'm gonna apply a thick thick thick layer of sun-block.
A sundae in parklane. A simple delight in the heat.
and of course that's another piece of 'borrowed heaven'.
